When a woman finds the right wig,
she doesn't see a wig.
She sees herself again.

i.

The beginning.

NYC Medical Wigs was built around a quiet belief: that the right wig, made well and fit with care, can give a woman back the part of herself she's afraid she's losing.

It grew out of a family rooted in two worlds: hair and medicine. Years in the hair-extension business taught us what real hair costs and how a wig is truly made. A family of dermatologists and physicians taught us to see hair loss for the medical need it so often is, not a vanity.

The turning point was personal. A dear friend, in the middle of the hardest season of her life, was quoted nearly $10,000 for a wig. Knowing what that hair was actually worth, the number didn't look like a price. It looked like someone taking advantage of a woman at her most vulnerable.

That's where this began: honest wigs, made and priced with integrity, for women who deserve better than to be overcharged when they're already carrying enough. And because hair loss from a medical condition is a medical need, we treat it like one. We handle the insurance paperwork from start to finish, so that part of the fight was never hers to carry alone.

Hand-tied silk top construction
The Craft Our Signature collection every piece is hand-tied, knot by knot. There is no faster way to do this. We have not looked for one.

Every woman who walks in deserves to leave looking like herself — not a softened, brave-faced version of herself.

The craft.

Our Signature pieces are hand-tied, knot by knot, the slow way — because there is no faster way to make a wig move and part like hair that grew there. Across every tier, we choose construction and fit with the same care, so each woman gets a wig that feels like her own.

What We Believe
  • That a wig should let a woman forget she is wearing one.

  • That insurance shouldn't be a battle she has to fight alone.

  • That a fitting should feel like care — never commerce.

  • That the smallest comforts matter most on the hardest days.

  • That every woman deserves to walk into her life looking like herself.

 The studio.

Our Bayonne studio sits just across the water from the city: close enough to reach easily, quiet enough to feel like an exhale. Fittings here are unhurried. You'll meet privately, often with someone you love beside you. No other clients in the room. No fluorescent lights. No commission pressure. Just time, expertise, and the small comforts a hard day asks for.

For women who can't travel, or who simply prefer the privacy of home, we offer the same care virtually. The conversation is the same. The patience is the same. And we ship anywhere in the country.

What we believe

Every woman who walks in deserves to leave looking like herself, not the brave-faced version she's been wearing for everyone else.

• That a wig should let a woman forget she is wearing one.

• That insurance shouldn't be a battle she has to fight alone.

• That a fitting should feel like care, not commerce.

• That the smallest comforts matter most on the hardest days.

• That every woman deserves to walk into her life looking like herself.

The promise.

We will treat your time, your privacy, and your story with the care they deserve. We will not push you toward something you don't want. We will tell you honestly what insurance will and will not cover, and then do the work of getting you what it will. We will help you find a piece that lets you forget you are wearing one. And on the days when the wig is the smallest of your worries, we will quietly send the lip balm, the soft blanket, the things that make a hard day a little softer. Because the wig is the visible part of this work. The rest is what tells you you're not alone.
